3rd or 4th Year Electrical Apprentice - Overhead Crane Technician Trainee

We are looking for a 3rd or 4th year Electrical Apprentice with strong industrial electrician experience who is interested in training to become an Overhead Crane Technician. This role offers hands-on learning and mentorship in a specialized field with strong long-term career opportunities.  

What Your Day, Week, Month, and Year Includes:

  • Assist with the inspection, maintenance, repair, and installation of overhead cranes and hoisting equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems in industrial settings
  • Support journeyperson technicians in performing detailed safety inspections and load tests
  • Maintain accurate documentation of service calls and inspections
  • Participate in ongoing technical training related to crane systems, controls, safety compliance
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and site-specific protocols

Must Have:

  • Registered as a 3rd or 4th year Electrical Apprentice in Alberta (or applicable jurisdiction)
  • Industrial troubleshooting i.e. equipment, repair/maintenance
  • Minimum 2–3 years of industrial electrical experience (manufacturing, heavy industry, or construction)
  • Strong understanding of motors, control panels, and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work on mechanical components as part of the role
  • Comfortable working at heights and in industrial environments
  • Valid driver's license with clean abstract
  • Strong communication, reliability, and desire to grow within a specialized trade

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with cranes, hoists, or lifting systems
  • Welding or fabrication skills
  • Hydraulic experience
  • Familiarity with pulley systems

Compensation and Benefits:
